CenterPoint Properties is developing a new manufacturing center that CRRC Sifang America will use to build the next generation of trains for the Chicago L.

CRRC Sifang America, a subsidiary of CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co. Ltd, is known for its innovative engineering and high-quality railcars. The company recently won a bid from the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) to construct as many as 846 new train cars for the city’s iconic elevator metro system. CRRC will build the railcars in Chicago with labor from local union workers.

US state of Illinois eyes closer ties with China

A brand new railcar plant is beginning to take shape on the outskirts of Chicago. This is a $100 million investment by the Chinese company CRRC. Over the next few years, the company will roll out an initial order of 400 railcars here. It is just the latest example of the growing trade between Chicago and China.
